Gmail sign out
In my previous post, I wrote about Gmail sign in and various Problems encountered while trying to Sign in Gmail account as well as how to resolve the issue. Today, we shall be discussing Gmail sign out.
Having discovered how my Gmail users leave their account logged in after use especially people that make use of public internet services like cyber cafe, it is highly recommended to sign out of your Gmail account entirely once you’re done with what you are doing.
Before we go into Gmail sign out proper, let’s take a quick look at the advantages of Signing out of Gmail:
- It helps keep your Gmail account Privacy
- It avoids unnecessary login attempts of un-authorised users
- It helps in the safety of Gmail account.
They are three major ways with which you can sign out of your Gmail account depending on the device or gadget you’re using. They are:
- Gmail sign out on Computer
- Gmail sign out on Android
- Gmail sign out on iPhone.
Signing out On a Computer:

Step 1: Go to or visit mail.google.com.
Step 2: Login your Account
Step 3: In your logged in paged, Click on the blue avatar or your account photo located at the top right corner of the page you are. See image below;
If you are yet to upload your profile picture, and if the blue avatar doesn’t show up either, then you must surely see your email address instead at that top right corner, if that’s the one that showed up, click on it.
Step 4: Now simply click “Sign Out” and that’s it! You’re done!
To sign out using an Android:
Follow the steps below
From Google’s Gmail Help page, it says that it is not possible to logout of the Gmail App for Android devices without removing your entire email account from your android device (i.e. phone or tablet). But as you, there must be a way out.
Step: Kindly go to your device’s Settings menu, find the section for Accounts and tap the Remove the account button. That it! You’re done!
Note: If your device has a three-dot menu at the top right, then you can as well find the Remove account option there to log out.

How to sign out of Gmail for iPhone and iPad users:
A very easy, quick, simple, and effective way to log out of the Gmail App for iOS is to just simply remove your entire account(s) from your iOS device.
The moment you remove a Google account from your mobile iPhone or iPad, you will be automatically signed out from all the other Google apps that you have on your device that you’re using the information of the account that you have just removed.
Steps: To do this, kindly open up the Gmail app, tap on the menu icon and click “Manage Accounts”, select the “Edit” button, and lastly tap on “Remove” button to sign out.
You can as well sign out just from the Gmail app and continue using other Google apps with the same account.
To do this, open the Gmail App for iOS, tap on the menu icon with four lines at the top right corner of your phone screen and tap on “Manage Accounts” button, kindly select the “Edit” button and click on the “Remove” button.
